    The length of fission tracks in apatite provide the means of inter-preting age: each length represents a different portion of the time-temperature history (tT) story, and length distributions record the in-tegrated thermal history. In the data from Site there is a high de-gree of similarity of track-length data with mean track lengths (MTL). The density of tracks from spontaneously fissioning uranium atoms in mica has been used to make quantitative measurements of geologic ages. In comparison with methods in which ages are derived from measurements of radioactive decay products, the fission track method is much simpler and is usually accurate for micas up to a few hundred million years old.

    Solid State Nuclear Track Detectors is a collection of papers that covers various aspects of solid state nuclear track detectors. The book presents articles that cover the concerns in the mechanisms, operations, and applications of solid state nuclear track detectors. Based on precise measurements of bulk-etching and track-etching rates of the two detectors, track registration efficiencies and critical angles were determined to be ± and ° for CR.

    Radiometric dating, radioactive dating or radioisotope dating is a technique which is used to date materials such as rocks or carbon, in which trace radioactive impurities were selectively incorporated when they were formed.
